On 25th June, 1976, the National Assembly declared the country a reunified state with the official name of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. This was a legal basis for the Foreign Ministries of the two parts of Viet Nam to officially merge into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
